I’m having trouble connecting Ivy to Wi-Fi

Last updated on Nov 06, 2025

If you’re having issues connecting Ivy to Wi-Fi, here are a few things to check:

🛰️ Wi-Fi Compatibility

Like most IoT devices, Ivy supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only.
5 GHz networks are not compatible, so please make sure you’re connecting to a 2.4 GHz network.

🏢 Corporate or Restricted Networks

If you’re trying to connect Ivy on a corporate, school, or restricted network, there may be a firewall or login page that blocks new devices.
Please contact your IT administrator and provide Ivy’s MAC address (found:

  • On the front page of the user manual under the barcode, or
  • On Ivy’s System Info screen).
The IT admin can whitelist the MAC address to allow Ivy access.

📶 Signal Strength

Ivy’s Wi-Fi module isn’t as strong as a smartphone’s. Try moving Ivy closer to your router or use a Wi-Fi extender to ensure a stable connection.

📲 Bluetooth & App Permissions

For the app to auto-detect Ivy during setup, make sure:

  • Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are both turned on your phone.
  • The Smart Life / Tuya Smart app has permission to access your phone’s network and Bluetooth.

🔑 Wi-Fi Password

Double-check that the Wi-Fi password you entered is correct. Even a small typo can cause a failed connection.

⏳ Timeout or Endless Connection

If the connection process seems stuck or times out, restart Ivy and try again.

📡 Using a Mobile Hotspot

If regular Wi-Fi isn’t available, you can use your phone or PC as a hotspot to connect Ivy.
Make sure the hotspot is:

  • 2.4 GHz, and
  • Set to maximum compatibility mode.
If you can’t enter the password (a rare issue with some phones), try setting up the hotspot on another device and use it as Ivy’s Wi-Fi router.
