Ivy cannot feel my touch on the plant leaves

Last updated on Dec 16, 2025

Why This Happens

Due to the physical limitations of the plant touch sensing principle, Ivy may not reliably detect touches on the plant leaves when the soil is too dry. Very dry soil creates an almost insulating environment, which makes it difficult for electrical signals to transmit properly.

In addition, different plant species and leaf textures can result in varying levels of touch sensitivity.

How to Improve Touch Detection

You can fine-tune the touch response by adjusting the sensitivity setting:

  • Go to Settings → Touch Perception, and
  • Increase the touch sensitivity to better match your plant and environment.

🎁 Fun Easter Egg

When the touch sensitivity is set to a very high level, Ivy can detect not only direct touch, but also the closing motion of your hand near the leaves — try it out!
