How Ivy Detects Light
Ivy evaluates both light intensity and duration to determine if your plant is getting enough light. When the light level is too low, Ivy will show a low-light expression as a reminder.
Recommended Light Conditions
- For indoor foliage plants: Place Ivy in a bright area with indirect light. In winter, it’s fine to let your plant enjoy some gentle sunlight. If your home is dim, consider using a grow light to help your plant thrive.
- For sun-loving plants (e.g., succulents): Keep Ivy in a spot with direct sunlight for extended periods to support healthy growth.
Sensor Placement and Accuracy
The light sensor is located inside the transparent cover on Ivy’s back. If the sensor is shaded or blocked, it may not perfectly reflect your plant’s actual light exposure. You can adjust Ivy’s angle to improve accuracy.
Using Manual Light Mode
If Ivy often stays in shaded areas or you use a grow light, you can enable Manual Light Mode from the Light Data page in the app for more accurate readings. 🌿
